Accused for "offending the head of the state" in the Democratic Republic of Congo, and after a trial on his hospital bed, congressman Gerard Mulumba has been unjustly condemned to serve eighteen months in prison due to a simple text message!

It is important to note that Mr Mulumba was raising in popularity over his charitable actions in his district.

While the DRC "president", Mr Kabila's mandate had expired in December 2016; he has systematically and constantly failed in his last duty to organize free, and transparent election at the end of his last term. Mr Kabila Is continually making usage of unprecedented military force to stay in power, eliminating those standing on his way to dictatorship.

Mr Gerard Mulumba is just one of many examples of the oppression under which Congolese are living, especially when the freedom of speech and expression has been ripped from them.

This situation is quite shameful; especially for Mrs Marie-Ange Mushobekwa, Minister for Human Rights in the DRC; as she continues to claim that along her team, she is working to better the rights of all Congolese in the nation.
